This protocol enables the chemoselective reduction of fluoropyridines while tolerating other (hetero)aromatic systems using a com. available heterogeneous catalyst. Fluorinated derivatives of important drug compounds are prepared, and a straightforward strategy for the synthesis of enantioenriched fluorinated piperidines is disclosed.
