Ethyl 2-(2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)acetate (cas: 6413-10-1) belongs to dioxole derivatives. Dioxoles, particularly fluorinated dioxoles, are used as co-monomers to make polymers that find use in forming protective coatings for chemical resistance. 1,3-Benzodioxole can be synthesized from catechol with disubstituted halomethanes.Synthetic Route of C8H14O4

Catalytic synthesis of 2-methyl-2-ethoxycarbonylmethyl-1,3-dioxolane with H4SiW6Mo6O40/SiO2 was written by Wu, Mei;Ye, Ming-yan;Duan, Yun-li;Yu, Li;Lu, Bao-lan;Yang, Shui-jin. And the article was included in Jingxi Yu Zhuanyong Huaxuepin in 2012.Synthetic Route of C8H14O4 The following contents are mentioned in the article:

A novel catalyst, H4SiW6Mo6O40/SiO2 was synthesized by a sol-gel technique, and characterized by FTIR and XRD. 2-Methyl-2-ethoxycarbonylemethyl-1, 3-dioxolane was synthesized from Et acetoacetate and ethylene glycol in the presence of H4SiW6Mo6O40/SiO2 as catalyst. The factors influencing the synthesis were discussed and the best reaction conditions were found out. Exptl. results showed that H4SiW6Mo6O40/SiO2 is an excellent catalyst. Under the exptl. conditions as follows: molar ratio of Et acetoacetate to ethylene glycol is 1:1.5, the mass ratio of the catalyst is 1.0% of all the reactants, volume of cyclohexane is 8 mL, and the reaction time is 60 min, the yield of 2-methyl-2-ethoxycarbonylmethyl-1, 3-dioxolane can reach 72.8%. This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as Ethyl 2-(2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)acetate (cas: 6413-10-1Synthetic Route of C8H14O4).
