In present research, a novel series of S-substituted derivatives of 5-[1-[(4-chlorophenyl)sulfonyl]-3-piperidinyl]-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol I [R = (CH2)2Br, i-Pr, s-Bu, etc.] were synthesized by a multistep protocol starting from Et piperidine-3-carboxylate, which reacted with (4-chlorobenzene)sulfonyl chloride. The resulting Et 1-[(4-chlorophenyl)sulfonyl]piperidine-3-carboxylate was subsequently converted into its corresponding carbohydrazide and then to the 2,5-disubstituted-1,3,4-oxadiazole by intermol. cyclization. The compound 5-[1-(4-chlorophenylsulfonyl)-3-piperidinyl]-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol was derivatized by different alkyl halides. All of the synthesized compounds were screened for antibacterial activity and enzyme inhibition potential against lipoxygenase enzyme.
