Fructone was prepared by condensation reaction of Et acetoacetate and ethylene glycol in the presence of copper benzene sulfonate. The influences of the reaction conditions on the yield of fructone were investigated. The optimum reaction conditions were as follows: molar ratio of Et acetoacetate/ethylene glycol, 1:1.5; catalyst dosage, 1.5wt% of reactants; water-carrying agent, cyclohexane; reaction time, 60min. Under the optimum reaction conditions, the yield of fructone was up to 82.7%.
