Cyclohexanone ethylene glycol ketal was synthesized from cyclohexanone and ethylene glycol by using ferric solid superacid as the catalyst and cyclohexane as the water-carrying agent. The experiment results show that the ferric solid superacid has high activity and good stability; optimal synthesis conditions are as follows: molar ratio of cyclohexanone to ethylene glycol is 1:14, mass ratio of cyclohexanone to the catalyst is 32.8:1, volume ratio of cyclohexanone to cyclohexane is 2.08:1, and reaction time is 1 h. Under above conditions, the yield of cyclohexanone ethylene glycol ketal is over 86%.
