The effects of heteropolyacid catalysts and various structural substrates on the catalytic activity to synthesis 1,3-dioxolane derivatives were investigated. The results indicated that Wells-Dawson Heteropolyacid H7P2Mo17VO62 is the best catalyst for this reaction with nearly complete conversion of epoxide and excess 90% of selectivity to 1,3-dioxolane.
