[01661] A solution of 5-methyl-4-tert-butyldimethylsilyloxymethyl-2-thio-1,3-dioxolene in methanolic hydrogen chloride was stirred at 0 C. for 1 h and 25 C. for 12 h. Extraction and chromatography gave 5-methyl-4-hydroxymethyl-2-thio-1,3-dioxolene.
